Modern Russia Conflict
Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev have been transitioning between the two highest rank leaders in Russia. Citizens of Russia have been getting very exasperated with their leaders and want to switch president.
Vladimir Putin
Vladimir Putin has had quite the history in Russia. He started off as the KGB officer in 1999 soon to be promoted to president of Russia when former president Boris Yeltsin resigned. Putin was then re-elected in the year 2004. Due to limitations Putin could not run again in 2008, but was still given the role of Prime Minister. Putin was said to still be running the country even though Dmitry Medvedev was elected president. Putin was once again re-elected as president of Russia this year with around 64% of the election votes. The reelection of Putin has caused major protests throughout all of Russia. The main protests have taken place in Moscow, Russia. Citizens in Russia are unpleased with their presidents and want new leaders. Protests continue to happen all over Russia.
Dmitry Medvedev
Dmitry Medvedev, Putins apponint, graduated from the Faculty of Law of Leningrad State University and completed his post-graduate studies. He holds a PHD in law and the title of associate professor.
Between the years of 1990-1995 he was an adviser to the Chairman of the Leningrad City Council. During that time he also was an expert consultant to the St Petersburg City Hall’s Committee for External Affairs. In 1999, he became the Deputy Chief of staff of the Presidential Executive Office. Lucky for him in November of 2005 he became first deputy Prime Minister by Putins choosing. What is interesting about him is he is very family oriented and loves his job.
